So where does the health and safety come in?
As a manager he was responsible for all health and safety within the complex. A large leisure facility has a full range of workplace risks such are presented in offices, storerooms, kitchens, changing facilities, toilets and high risk specialist training areas.
He had to ensure that the areas were safe and risk assessments, policies, safe working practices and hazard free working and storage areas were maintained. Not just strategies but ensuring that daily tasks meant problem solving opportunities could be taken thus maintaining and developing safe and efficient systems of work. Promoting an organisational culture, this values staff and visitors whilst mitigating risks, making the workplace a safe place at which to enjoy “your working day.”
